While on the Nile, I was awakened....

In the silence of the Nile I was awakened...

I consider myself a Buddhist. I identify so much with the teachings.
There are so many similarities in all the religions. Only the
extremists taint the purity of Islam, Christianity, Buddhism
etc....and they are the losers in that plot. There is so much good to be known when people are ready to see
the truth, wherever or whatever that truth may be. While on the Nile River listening to the QUIET, I understood the
meaning of the African proverb, "Silence is also a form of speech."
The silence of the Nile, the immersing in the silence, the being with
the silence, was like sitting next to god. The magnitude of the
emotions I felt cannot be put into words. I wrote that "Life is slower
here -- like time came to a certain point and just stopped while the
rest of the world kept moving away."
The Buddhists believe the word
Buddha means to 'awaken.' I felt 'awakened' on the Nile and in Egypt,
like I had spent my whole life asleep. There in this complete silence
there was a new found freedom to the silence, in the silence, with the
silence. And yes, as if it were speaking only to me. Perhaps I sound like a crazy poet, that I am, however, this poem completes the feeling: Our lives are lived within a vacuum. We are sucked into circumstance surroundings swirl around us: the dirt in our existing lives descends on us like dust storms whirling filthy cluttered while we keep breathing it all in wanting more when perhaps less.... LESS is more. Less is More 7-7-09  written on the Nile River, ©LaFayeKeep looking for the goodness in others. For it's when looking and seeing the goodness in others, we truly find the goodness in ourselves. Love 2 u! Teri
