Future Goals in Figure:

I would like to be seen as an ambassador for the sport of figure, representing the Asian/Pacific Islander communities. I take pride in the fact that I am natural athlete, both drug-free and implant-free. I have made a conscious choice in not succumbing to the pressures of competing such as taking illegal substances, in order to obtain a more muscular or leaner physique. I believe that I am a true representation of “real” women in our society. My motto of “nothing worth having comes easy” is the basis of my work ethic, be it preparation for a figure competition or a marathon. Although a 1st placing would be ideal, I would like to utilize my on-season competition as a vehicle to assist in generating sponsorships and possible fitness modeling opportunities, that would appeal to a more mainstream audience, rather than just be limited to bodybuilding industry only.

Extracurricular:

I am also a volunteer coach for Girls on the Run – Silicon Valley www.girlsontherun.org I have been coaching since 2003, every Spring Season – coincidentally as I prepare for my figure competitions. The Girls on the Run program is a 12- week training course which targets 8 – 11 year old girls, as they are gradually trained to run/walk a 5k.

During our bi-weekly sessions, we also discuss issues that young girls deal with on a day-to-day such as body image, proper nutrition, self-esteem, peer pressure and even the negative affects of gossiping, just to name a few of the topics. I find this opportunity to touch the lives and be a positive role model to these young girls a fulfilling and enlightening experience. At the end of every season, every one of my girls has blossomed into a more confident athlete, who views being strong and having muscles is cool!
