Just recently Southwest airlines has made headlines when they decided to charge hollywood director Kevin Smith for an extra seat because of his weight. Kevin did not take to kindly to this and began a twitter blog that has receive over 1.5million hits
Southwest airlines rule for the last 25 years has been that if a person is over a certain weight that there is a requirement to pay for an extra seat please keep in mind that most airline seats are only 17 inches wide, but my question is, was what the airline did fair? , In my last blog I post about how diabetes cost taxpayers millions of dollars a year
Being over weight myself I do understand that there is a sterotype that is attached to me and others my concern is that being taxed for your bodytype could lead to other rules that could be unfair to others who might have health problems. I do not know what is going on with the airline business, however they keep losing money, and soon they'll all be asking for a carry on fee. Spirit Airlines already does - but then again, the smaller value centered airlines have to in order to stay profitable. There has to be some reason why airlines are practically running for payday advances, and getting desperate. Either they're paying out board members and administration an excessive amount, or they have to figure out something else. (Well…if ANY business loses money, executives are being overpaid.) It's getting to the point where the only cost efficient way to take a trip is either Greyhound or Amtrak.

How others view us
..is a concern we ALL face. And George, I'm glad that both you and Terri trusted me enough to allow me to be a part of your lives and your journey ;) When I used to compete and was in "peak condition" I was contacted by photographers and people w/in the fitness industry because they felt I had that "marketable look". In between seasons, when I took a break from competing... and wasn't in "peak condition" anymore, no one was interested as much. Because I wasn't rock hard & super-lean.. I worried what people in the fitness industry thought of me. Sound, crazy? I KNOW!
Bottom line is..once we let go of what others think of us and just start LIVING, we learn new things about ourselves, our capabilities and meet some awesome people along the way ;)
