7 Years as a "Girl on the Run"

Mona Liza Reyes's picture

This week, I started my 1st day of my 7th year as a volunteer coach. for Girls on the Run www.girlsontherun.org.

As we sat in a large circle, one by one, we all introduced ourselves and why we're a part of Girls on the Run. I started my intro as "My name is Mona Liza Reyes. Also known as coach Momo and I've been a volunteer coach for 7 years." I couldn't help but laugh out loud because the thought occurred to me that I've been coaching since the year that some of these girls were barely born! The ages of the girls I coach ranges from 8 - 11 years old (3rd - 5th grade)

JUST DO YOU

Inspired by the timeless "Just Do It." campaign by Nike.
I found it appropriate to share these simple 3 words as a reminder to everyone.

In the past, I have been guilty of trying to please everyone. Wanting so much to make everyone happy and compromising my own joy. I worried alot about what others thought or said about me. And as a result of that,I've wasted time thinking about things I want to say, to do, become and accomplish.
Everything I am, is from the heart. Everything I do, is from the heart.

Each One, Teach One

Happy MOnday Go Team Mo!
The month of January is almost coming to an end and I want to know, HOW ARE YOU HOLDING UP with the New Years Resolutions you've set for yourself?
I trust everyone is remaining focused.. determined...and most importantly, finding balance.

If You're Not Growing... You're Dying

Sounds kind of sad when I say it outloud. But in my opinion, it's the honest truth.
We all have a choice. Some of the choices we make are never "easy", but we make them with faith that although it's a hard process to go through.. in the end, we'll be okay. We have to believe that when we push forward.. whether in accomplishing a health/fitness goal, leaving a job or moving on from a relationship, that although it's difficult to leave a "comfort zone" - it's all for a greater good.

Reflect, THEN Move Forward

As I type this blog, about an hour before it's officially 2010.. as excited as I am to begin a New Year and chapter in my life, I find myself reflecting on 2009 and ALL that has occured this past year. The people I have met, the relationships I have made, the people who have passed, the goals I have accomplished and of course, the things I said I was going to do, but didn't.

FINISH STRONG

These are 2 words that all my clients are familiar with. I say this to them, as they push through to finish a workout. These same 2 words are the words I chant in my head as I finish through a workout OR run.
